Australia bounced back in style in the four-match series against India to win the second Test in Perth by 146 runs. The series is now levelled at one each with two matches to go. India resumed day five’s play on 112 for five, needing 175 more runs to win. Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant were the two overnight batsmen. Mitchell Starc removed Vihari to begin on a positive note. Seven overs later, Nathan Lyon dismissed Pant to end India’s hopes. Starc and Pat Cummins then combined to finish India’s tail.

Starc sent back Umesh and then Cummins accounted for Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah in one over to help Australia win the match. For Australia, Starc and Lyon scalped three wickets each while Josh Hazlewood and Cummins chipped in with two wickets each. On day four, India were reduced to 112 for five. The visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals including the prized wicket of captain Virat Kohli.

The two teams will now face-off in the third and penultimate Test at Melbourne, starting December 26. India earlier won the opening Test at Adelaide.
