Given the form that the top three Indian batsmen – Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Virat Kohli – are in across all the three formats, the trio has broken a slew of records in the past couple of months. As India take on Australia in a three-match T20I series, starting November 21, there are quite a few more records that are on the line.

Amongst the three, the Indian team captain has been a standout performer in all the three formats. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has played the ODI format quite beautifully, whereas Shikhar Dhawan has played the T20 format meticulously.

As India takes on Australia in the T20I format, starting Wednesday, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have been gunning for this record which is held by Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper had scored 641 runs in the shortest format of the game in 2016. Rohit Sharma has scored 560 runs in 16 games, so far, this year. His stupendous form has seen him leaving behind Kohli, in becoming the highest run-scorer for India in T20Is. As for Shikhar Dhawan, he has been in red-hot form in the limited overs format too. Dhawan has scored 572 runs from 15 games that he has played this year at an impressive average of 38.13. The aggressive left-handed batsman needs 69 more runs to become the highest run-scorer in T20Is in a calendar year.

The first match of the series will be played at The Gabba, in Brisbane on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see if Rohit Sharma or Shikhar Dhawan break Virat Kohli’s record.
