Ikram Ali Khil Breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s This Record During Afghanistan vs West Indies, CWC 2019

Ikram broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record by being the youngest player to have scored more than 80 runs in the World Cup.

It was during the CWC 2019 match between Afghanistan and West Indies that this teenager from Afghanistan stunned the cricket fans with his performance at the Headingley Cricket Stadium. The Asian country chased a total of 311 runs. After Gulbadin Naib was sent to the pavilion quite early in the game.  It was Rahmat Shah and Ikram Ali Khil who stabilised the team as they scored 62 and 86 runs respectively. Ikram who is 18 years and 278 days old left behind the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar who scored 81 runs against Zimbabwe in Hamilton in 1992. Back then he was 18 years and 318 days old. With 88 runs, Ikram is now the third youngest player to score a fifty in the World Cup. Bangladesh's Tamim Iqbal was 17 years and 362 days old when he scored a half-century. Mohammed Ashraful was 18y-170 when he scored a half-century.

Talking about the game, West Indies ended their World Cup 2019 campaign on a high note as they won the game by 23 runs. Afghanistan also played their last game today but and unfortunately could not win a single game in the tournament. Both teams have not qualified for the CWC 2019.
