Right from the time the team was announced for the CWC 2019, Ambati Rayudu had been in the news for being dropped from the squad. The selectors preferred Vijay Shankar over Rayudu and the reason cited was that the former would bring a 3D approach to the squad. Rayudu who had been a part of CWC 2015 in Australia put out a tweet which took a jibe at the selectors. “Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup 😉😋,” he tweeted. Cut to present. Shankar’s stint at the CWC 2019 did not last long as he got ruled out of the tournament due to a toe injury. After which Mayank Agarwal was once again opted over Rayudu. Now, with this snub, Iceland Cricket made their offer to Rayudu. Which was an indirect jibe at the Rayudu and the Indian selectors. Vijay Shankar Out of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Mayank Agarwal Set to Join Team India in England.
In a witty manner, the cricketing body posted a tweet on social media and wrote that Rayudu would not need any 3D glasses to read the document attached with the post. Iceland Cricket put out the list of documents needed for immigration and said they would love Rayudu to be a part of the team. Rayudu is yet to respond to the tweet.
Check out the tweet below:
Agarwal has three professional wickets at 72.33 so at least @RayuduAmbati can put away his 3D glasses now. He will only need normal glasses to read the document we have prepared for him. Come join us Ambati. We love the Rayudu things. #BANvIND #INDvBAN #CWC19 pic.twitter.com/L6XAefKWHw

After Vijay Shankar was ruled out due to an injury many would have thought that the BCCI would ask Rayudu to join the team. But alas that didn’t happen. It is said that the jibe at the Indian selectors could have been the primary reason for Rayudu not getting a call for CWC 2019. Whatever might be the reason, but as things stand today Iceland cricket may not be too bad an idea after the rejection Rayudu has faced from the BCCI.
