Just when India was playing their last league game against Sri Lanka at Headingley in Leeds, a plane was seen zooming across the stadium which had the banner reading, ‘Justice For Kashmir’. This is the second time such an incident has happened in the past ten days. As one may recall, on June 29 a similar banner with the message ‘Justice for Balochistan’ during Pakistan vs Afghanistan floated across the stadium. This surely means that the ICC and the local police authorities have failed to monitor the airspace during the matches. The International Cricket Council has come up with an official statement about the incident today. The ICC said that they are extremely disappointed with these incidents occurring time and again. “We do not condone any sort of political messages at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Throughout the tournament, we have worked with local police forces around the country to prevent this type of protest occurring. After the previous incident we were assured by West Yorkshire Police there would not be a repeat of this issue, so we are very dissatisfied it has happened again,” said the spokesperson of the ICC after the incident on Saturday.
After the incident on June 29, the ICC had assured that this kind of incidents would not be repeated as they are working closely with airport authorities and local police. The banner of Balochistan had sparked violence outside the Leeds stadium.
