International Cricket Council’s (ICC) official Twitter account recently posted a photo of Test rankings for batsmen. And surpassingly, all the batsmen in the list were ranked one. No, it was not an error on part of ICC. In fact, the image shared by ICC was a photoshopped screenshot of its website. The cricket’s covering the body, actually, tweeted two images. One was of the American rapper Kanye West’s tweet, in which he wrote, “no one is better than anyone.” And in the other one, ICC jokingly handed all the batsmen the numero uno position to ‘agree’ with West.
"If you say so yeezy," the ICC tweeted alongside the pictures. As per the real, ICC rankings for Test batsmen, Australia’s Steve Smith, who is under suspension in ball-tampering case, is currently ranked one followed by Indian captain Virat Kohli at two. Kohli dropped to second place after his poor outing at the Lord’s Test, which India lost by an innings and 159 runs. England’s Test captain Joe Root and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson are ranked third and fourth respectively. David Warner, who is also facing suspension for his involvement in the ball-tampering case, is at number five.
Cheteshwar Pujara is the only Indian batsman apart from Kohli to feature in top 10. The right-hander is placed sixth. Sri Lankan batsmen Dimuth Karunaratne and Dinesh Chandimal are at seventh and eighth place.
England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow, who scored 93 at Lord’s, is back in the top 10 list and is placed ninth. South Africa’s Dean Elgar is at number ten.
