2015 Cricket World Cup was a memorable one for Bangladesh as for the first time, the Tigers qualified for the quarterfinals of the mega tournament. Bangladesh, over the years, under Mashrafe Mortaza have excelled. Besides defeating major teams at home, Bangladesh were runners-up at the 2018 Asia Cup. And most recently, the Tigers defeated West Indies to win a tri-series. ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Schedule in PDF: Ticket Prices, Dates, Venue Details & Timetable Available for Download Online.

In Shakib Al Hasan Bangladesh have the World’s number one all-rounder. Apart from him, players like skipper Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman, Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan make Bangladesh a strong side. Meanwhile, ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, we take a look at five players who we think will be instrumental in helping Bangladesh win its maiden title or at least qualify for the semis for the first time.

Tamim Iqbal

The left-hander is one of the experienced players in the Bangladesh ranks. Tamim Iqbal has been in superb form of late and no doubt shares the majority of the workload as far as Bangladesh’s batting is concerned. The best part about Tamim’s batting skills is that he can accelerate or drop anchors as and when needed. Ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Here’s a Look Back at How Bangladesh Fared at the Last Edition of the CWC.

Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan comes into the World Cup 2019 as number one all-rounder and that very much tells how able the former captain is both with bat and ball. In middle-order, Shakib holds an important place in the batting order and then with ball, he is a wicket-taking option Mortaza will turn to.

Mustafizur Rahman

Fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was highly rated when he started his career. However, of late his form has dipped somewhat but he still continues to be a dangerous customer in Bangladesh bowling. His slower cutters can be very much effective towards the end of the tournament when the pitches would have dried up.

Mahmudullah

At number 5-6, the right-handed batsman holds an important position in the Bangladesh batting order. Mahmudullah is Bangladesh’s tried and tested finisher and at the World Cup, a lot rests on his shoulders. Apart from his batting, Mahmudullah can chip in with his right-arm off-break as well.

Mehidy Hasan

The 21-year-old spinner is an important member of Bangladesh’s bowling line. The off-spinner along with Shakib can put any position in trouble. Mehidy may not be someone who picks wickets at will but his ability to contain batsmen is something that makes him useful. He has an economy of under five from 28 ODIs. The youngster is a decent number eight batsman as well.

Bangladesh will open their ICC World Cup 2019 campaign against South Africa on June 02 at The Oval in London. In the two warm-up matches, Bangladesh will face Asian counterparts Pakistan and India on May 26 and Afghanistan on May 28.
