The opening ceremony of ICC Cricket World Cup is underway in London. As part of the inaugural ceremony, a 60-second cricket challenge was played by representatives of each team.
London, May 29: The opening ceremony of ICC Cricket World Cup kicked off with a 60-second cricket challenge at The Mall, a famous road in the city of London on Wednesday. Two representatives of each participant of the ICC Cricket Wolrd Cup participated in the challenge. For India Anil Kumble and Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar took part in the challenge. But the duo managed only to score only 19 runs, which was the lowest amongst all the teams. England represented by Kevin Peterson won the challenge. They scored 74 points, while Australia represented by Brett Lee scored 69 points. In the challenge team, Afghanistan fared third. Nobel Prize winner Malala also represented Pakistan in the challenge along with Azhar Ali. In the challenge, each team was represented by two famous personalities of their countries. Each batsman of the team will interchangeably faced the deliveries bowled by volunteers. They need to score maximum runs in 60 seconds. The batsman could be adjudged LBW in the challenge. There were minus points if a batsman gets out.

The ceremony was hosted by former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff and comedian Paddy McGuinness. The ceremony began at 09:30 pm IST (Indian Standard Time), 04:00 GMT and 05:00 pm BST (British Standard Time).
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, this Year’s biggest cricketing tournament, is just a day away. The 12th edition of Cricket World Cup, is scheduled to begin from May 30 and will run until July 14. This time, a total of ten teams are participating in the ICC’s pinnacle event. The tournament will be played in a round robin format, where the participating teams will face each other, with the top four teams qualifying for the semifinals.
