ICC 2018 T20 Qualifier: China Gets Bowled Out on 26; Nepal Reaches the Target in 11 Balls

The ICC T20 qualifier for the World Cup in 2022 is happening at Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur currently. Malaysia yesterday defeated Myanmar by 8 wickets. The result between the two teams came through the D/L method. Now, China and Nepal played the shortest form of cricket. After winning the toss, Nepal elected to field first and successfully bowled out China on the score of 26 in 13 overs. Nepal on the other hand, achieved the target in 11 runs.
Talking about China’s innings, the only batsman to score the highest runs was opener Hong Jiang Yan who made 11 runs and showed a little resistance. The Nepali bowlers did a fine job and Lalit Rajbanshi, Sandeep Lamichhane and Basant Regmi snapped three wickets each.
Bhandari could not get a wicket but bowled tight giving away only three runs. Whereas, Rajbanshi gave away 12 runs to the opponents. Regmi also bowled well giving three runs to the opponent. But it was Sandeep Lamichhane who walked away with the limelight by bowling at the economy of 1 and even bowled one maiden. So far in the tournament Lamichhane has snapped 20 wickets with an average of 2.05 runs. Sandeep Lamichhane was also selected for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL 2018.
Coming to Nepal’s inning Pradeep Airee and Binod Bhandari got Nepal to the winning ways. It was Bhandari who scored 24 runs off 8 balls hitting three fours. Whereas Airee made four runs off three balls. This was Nepal’s fifth consecutive win for the ICCT20 qualifier. With this win, Nepal has now jumped to top Asia Region Qualifier Group B.
