‘I Want to Win More Matches for the Indian Team’, Says Ishant Sharma Ahead of 2nd Test Match Against England at Lord’s
Ishant has happy memories about India’s last visit to the ‘Mecca of Cricket’. His experience and current form are what the Indian team would be banking upon in the second Test match.
Ishant Sharma, England’s wrecker-in-chief in the first Test match at Edgbaston, seemed quite positive about the atmosphere in the Indian dressing room. In his recent interview, Ishant said that his only motivation is to win the matches for the country, no matter where and which country does he play, be it South Africa, England, or Australia.
The right-arm bowler who seems to have rediscovered his mojo has scalped 73 wickets in his last 19 Test matches. Talking to bcci.tv, Ishant Sharma said, “The process is always the same, and one has to be sincere towards it. In which areas you have to bowl and how do you have to execute your plans, remains the key. It is the (increase in the number of) wickets column that what matters and which is what makes a player happy.”
Shedding light on the current mood in the Indian dressing room, Ishant said that there is a healthy competition in the team. And that is something good for the Indian cricket. Ishant said, “Our bowling unit is a good one now, and there is a healthy competition amongst the bowlers. We know that if the performance is not up to the mark, we will have to sit out of the team.”
The lanky pacer talked about a lot and also shared about his memories, the last time India played a Test match (and won) at Lord’s, way back in 2014. See this video, where Ishant Sharma talks about his motivation, determination and his eagerness to win more games for the Indian team.

Ishant had a tremendous first Test match as he took six wickets in the game. His excellent bowling, which fetched him a five-wicket haul, in the second innings was a turning point in the match. Ishant also played a supporting while batting too, in both the innings.
Ishant has happy memories about India’s last visit to the ‘Mecca of Cricket’. His experience and current form are what the Indian team would be banking upon. As for Ishant, he would want to take it like any other game and win it for the team, the country, just as he said in the video interview.
