For the first time in the history of the Richard Madley will not conduct the IPL auctions for the upcoming year in Jaipur. Madley took to social media to inform the fans about him missing out on the action this year in Jaipur. Madley has been replaced by Hugh Edmeades who has more than three decades of experience in auctioning. IPL 2019 Auctions: Auctioneer Richard Madley Questions BCCI’s Decision for Snubbing Him; Feels Deflated and Let Down.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new auctioneer. According to his website, Hugh Edmeades, also the company’s former International Director of Auctioneering, is responsible for over pound (£) 2.2 billion in sales at the world’s biggest auction house. Edmeades has conducted over 2,300 auctions till date which also includes the one at the gala dinner to mark late Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday. It was in the year 2016 that he became an independent freelance auctioneer. His Linkedin profile reads ‘International Fine Art, Classic Car & Charity Auctioneer’.
Talking about Richard Madley’s exclusion, the former IPL auctioneer had labelled it an illogical move of replacing him with Edmeades as the new man has no experience in auctioning at the IPL. “Hugh is a first class art auctioneer who has no experience of IPL. Therefore, it is illogical to me to replace me with somebody who is almost my mirror image. That, to me, is the one area that hurts,” he said.
