South African opening batsman Hashim Amla might be available for his side’s important ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 clash against India on June 5, Wednesday. “Hashim hasn’t fully recovered from the blow sustained to the helmet during the match against England on Thursday and is not available for selection for the match today,” said South Africa’s team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee. Amla was ruled out from taking part in South Africa’s second match against Bangladesh after failing to recover on time. He had sustained the head injury when he was hit on the helmet grill by a rising Jofra Archer bouncer. He was immediately forced to retire hurt against England over doubts of a concussion. But later was cleared to bat following the loss of wickets.

“With the quick turnaround between the two matches, he (Amla) is being rested as a precaution, based on our post-match re-assessment,” added Moosajee after the 36-year-old was left out of the playing XI.
