South Africa’s Hashim Amla has crossed the 8000-run mark in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The right-hander achieved the feat in 176 innings during New Zealand vs South Africa ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 (CWC 2019) match. And now he becomes the second fastest to reach 8000 runs in ODIs. Meanwhile, Amla is now the fourth South African batsman to reach 8000 ODI runs. He joins former teammates Jacques Kallis, Herschelle Gibbs, and AB de Villiers to score 8000 runs in 50-over international cricket. At the start of the match, Amla needed 24 runs to enter the 8k club.

The right-handed batsman had previously set records as the quickest from 2000 to 7000 ODI runs.
