MS Dhoni suffered heartbreak during the RCB vs CSK IPL 2024 match when the Chennai Super Kings were knocked out of the Indian Premier League 2024 playoffs by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. With 218 runs required for the Chennai Super Kings to win the match and a playoff berth, MSD tried his best along with Ravindra Jadeja but unfortunately, the team in yellow ended up on a losing end. This was the third time in four years that the Chennai Super Kings were knocked out of the round-robin stage of the cash-rich league. ‘Definitely Not’ Trends on ‘X’ As Fans Request MS Dhoni Not To Announce Retirement After CSK Fail To Qualify for IPL 2024 Playoffs

Has MS Dhoni Played his Last IPL Match?

While Chennai Super Kings lost the match, this would have been the last time the 'whistle podu' fans would have seen MS Dhoni play in the cash-rich league. MSD stepped down from captaincy ahead of the IPL 2024 and handed over the baton to young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, Dhoni continued to give his services as a wicket-keeper batsman and was accurate behind the wickets and with the bat as well. MS Dhoni Hits Longest Six of IPL 2024 As He Sends Ball out of M Chinnaswamy Stadium With 110m Hit During RCB vs CSK Match (Watch Video)

Another point which proves that IPL 2024 might be MSD's last was his battle with a thigh injury. MS Dhoni underwent thigh surgery after his successful triumph in the IPL 2023 and came out to play another season. However, the surgery was not enough for the veteran Indian captain and there were scenes when MSD was finding it difficult to walk and required support.

However, MS Dhoni has always had a habit of coming out deep down the order and taking the game to the last ball and helping the team win the match. But, in IPL 2024, he used it as an opportunity to play as less overs and balls as he could to relax his thigh.

It is still not clear whether the IPL 2O24 will be MS Dhoni's last season or not, but with him almost touching the age of 43, he might not be able to play another season for the Chennai Super Kings.
