India’s T20I captain Harmanpreet Kaur made her Kia Women's Cricket Super League (KSL) debut in style as she scored unbeaten 34 off 21 deliveries. Harmanpreet, playing for Lancashire Thunder, helped her side cross the line with to secure a last over finish. Needing 11 off the last over against Surrey Stars, Harmanpreet smashed a four and a six on the fourth and fifth delivery respectively to finish things in style. There was some drama at the start of the last over as Lancashire Thunder lost the wicket of Eleanor Threlkeld on the second ball. Harmanpreet, however, kept her cool and helped her side register a five-wicket win.

Harmanpreet’s knock proved to be instrumental for Lancashire Thunder. The right-handed batter came to bat in at four and during her stay slammed three fours and a six. Lancashire Thunder had earlier won the toss and elected to bat first. Surrey Star’s captain Nat Sciver scored 95 off just 57 balls with two sixes and nine fours to help her side post 148 for five in their allotted 20 overs. Apart from her, Dane van Niekerk was the lone batter to score in double digits as she managed to collect 29 runs. For Lancashire Thunder Emma Lamb returned with figures of 3/34.

In response, Lancashire Thunder got off to a decent start with openers Nicole Bolton and Evelyn Jones putting up a 62-run stand for the first wicket. Bolton went on to score 87 before she was dismissed in the 19th over. After her departure, Harmanpreet gave the finishing touch to Lancashire Thunder’s chase just like former Indian men’s team captain MS Dhoni.
