The recent episode of Koffee With Karan 6 featuring KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya brought in too many trouble for the cricketers. Hardik Pandya drew a lot of flak for the misogynist comments made on the show for which he had to apologise, not once but twice after the BCCI issued a show cause notice. The cricketers were given 24 hours to explain their statement. The cricketers were bashed on social media as well and the entire episode spiralled out of control. So much that the website had to remove the controversial episode. Hardik Pandya’s Father Comes to His Defence Following Koffee With Karan 6 Controversy.
Yesterday it was COA Chief Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji had recommended a ban for both the cricketers. Rahul Johri, CEO of the BCCI went on to say that the apology by Hardik Pandya was quite insincere as it was drafted by the agency. Hours after Vinod Rai wrote to the BCCI recommending a ban, BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry also expressed his disappointment over the matter. “The comments such as the ones that have been made would definitely have painted a large, red target on the back of the players for potential recruiters for the organised syndicates who attempt to indulge in match-fixing across the globe," Chaudhry wrote in an email after COA member Diana Edulji sought his opinion on the matter. However, Hardik Pandya’s father came into his defence and said that the all-rounder did not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings and made the statements to entertain the audiences. “He is an innocent boy with a very fun-loving nature,” said Himanshu Pandya.
