The nail-biting encounter in Ashes 2019 between England and Australia impressed former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly. Ganguly applauded the quality of cricket showed by England and Australia saying that Ashes 2019 has kept the Test cricket alive. He also urged other teams to raise their standards of cricket. Ganguly’s comments came after the close encounter between England and Australia in the second Test of Ashes 2019. Ganguly had tweeted, “The Ashes series have kept test cricket alive .... upto rest of the world to raise their standards”. To this Harbhajan said, “Standards can only be maintained if teams r strong but sadly apart from India Australia England and May be NZ in NZ are the only strong team left in world cricket,” Harbhajan posted on his official account. On the fifth day of Ashes 2019 England vs Australia 2nd Test, Australia needed to defend their wickets to avoid a defeat. Australia were chasing a difficult target of 267 off 48 overs. The visitors lost few quick wickets at the start in the form of Cameron Bancroft (16), David Warner (5) and Usman Khawaja (2). Later, Marnus Labuschagne (59) and Travis Head (42*) managed an 85 run stand. Australia lost three more wickets but were able to save the Test with 154-6 at the end of the fifth day. Jofra Archer and Jack Leach took three wickets each in the second innings to shatter Australia batting. Currently, Australia lead the five-match Test series 1-0.
