Yesterday, Dinesh Karthik turned down a single to Krunal Pandya and was slammed left, right and centre for the same by the netizens. India lost the match by four runs as they chased a mammoth of 212 runs. This denied the Indians their first victory on New Zealand soil. Both Sanjay Manjrekar and Harbhajan Singh slammed Karthik for the same and said that he should have ideally taken a single. “Somewhere I felt Krunal Pandya could have tried, he had got 18-19 runs in the previous over from Southee. So if that one mistake would not have been made, may be the result of the match and the series would have been different,” said Harbhajan Singh to Sports Tak. MS Dhoni’s Brilliant Stumping Sends Tim Seifert Packing During IND vs NZ, 3rd T20I 2019 (Watch Video).

Meanwhile, Sanjay Manjrekar praised Karthik for his power hitting but also said the single should have been taken. The former Indian cricketer took to social media to express his opinion.

The Indians lost the T20I series by 2-1. Since the start of the game, the Kiwi batsmen bamboozled the visiting side and hit them out of the park. Krunal and Hardik Pandya jointly gave away 98 runs from 48 deliveries. From the Indian side, Shikhar Dhawan was sent packing to the pavilion quite early in the game. India had previously lost the T20I series under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.
