A player who has often spoken about playing red-ball cricket, Glenn Maxwell, has featured in seven Tests for Australia since 2013 and continues to have the urge to play in whites for the Australian cricket team. "I think if I gave up on that Test dream now, I don't think I'd be doing justice to that younger Glenn Maxwell who was dying to put on the baggy green when he was a kid. And I think while there's still a glimmer of hope, I'll keep going for it."

The white-ball specialist states that his introduction to Test cricket came prematurely, which the batter felt did more harm, having not played much First-Class cricket either. Maxwell was near a comeback into the Test side in 2022, which never materialised.

Interestingly, Maxwell did manage to find his place in Victoria's 2nd squad for FC cricket. The star all-rounder was omitted from Australia's 2018 Tour of UAE, which pushed the cricketer's Test career in reverse after reports of his issues with then-coach Justin Langer surfaced.
