George Bailey’s Funny Batting Stance Has Caught Everyone’s Attention, Watch Video

If you thought Shivnarine Chanderpaul's batting stance was unusual, think again. Australian batsman George Bailey has made a change in his batting stance and it looks very funny. So much funny that Faf du Plessis fielding in the slips was in splits when Bailey was at the crease. Bailey was representing Prime Minister's XI who were up against South Africa in a tour match. Bailey’s side-on batting stance apparently caught commentators attention as well. And they suggested instead of pads, the right-hander should use a 'hamstring pad’. With his funny stance, Bailey was facing towards cover instead of the bowler. Meanwhile, Bailey while explaining his batting stance said to Cricket Australia, “The really simple answer is to keep it side on, the key for batting and getting your feet into a position where you can hit the ball as hard as you can.”
“The key to that is keeping my back foot very side on, which is something I used to speak to you (Michael Clarke) a lot about when you played as well. My tendency when the ball is swinging is to turn my hip to face the bowler, which then makes my hands lead out and it would get me into a lot of trouble. So it’s just something I’ve been tinkering with to try and make sure my back foot stays as side-on as possible. “I’ve found something that’s working really well. Until it stops working, and then maybe I can come up with a new one!” Bailey added.

Bailey came out to bat when his team’s score read 53 for three in a chase of 174. The hosts eventually won the contest by four wickets and the new batting stance worked for Bailey as he scored unbeaten 51 off 76 balls. His innings comprised of seven boundaries. South Africa are in Australia and will take on the home side in the three-match ODI series and one-off T20I.
