The 'Men in Blue' are all set to kickstart a new chapter under the coaching of former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir from the upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka. The Indian squad for the tour is yet to be announced and Gambhir has already had a meeting with the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee. The meeting took place in New Delhi on Tuesday and included Gambhir, members of the selection panel along with Agarkar and secretary Jay Shah. As per a report by Cricbuzz, Gautam and the others had an exchange of ideas and discussions were held on the future of Indian cricket. As the squad for the tour is yet to be announced there are also question marks regarding Rohit Sharma's availability in the series. Rohit retired from T20I cricket after India's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. As per a report by Cricbuzz, Rohit can make himself available for the ODIs against Sri Lanka. India are not scheduled to play many ODIs ahead of next year's Champions Trophy and Rohit would want to capitalise on every opportunity that he gets. If Rohit Sharma plays he will undoubtedly lead the side whereas players such as Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah can be rested. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul can get a possible return into the squad. If Rohit doesn't play the ODIs, Rahul can be a potential candidate for captaincy.
