Given India's 12-year-long unbeaten home Test series streak broken, the Indian management has decided to impose stricter action on players ahead of the IND vs NZ 3rd Test in Mumbai after the Black Caps won the Pune encounter and sealed the three-match contest 2-0. India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has sent out a diktat to players asking them to attend all training sessions, which earlier used to be optional, where players could choose to come or not. Virat Kohli Hits Ice Box With Bat in Anger After Being Dismissed by Mitchell Santner During IND vs NZ 2nd Test 2024, Video Goes Viral.

As per The Indian Express, the Indian team management has asked players to attend both training sessions on October 30 and 31 without fail. Earlier, after India's shock defeat in IND vs NZ 1st 2024 at Bengaluru, captain Rohit Sharma and ace batter Virat Kohli headed off to Mumbai for a short break and regrouped with the team a few days before the second Test.

India has often permitted optional training sessions during a long series, providing players with much-needed breaks. However, the move has come under fire given India's shambolic performance in the ongoing IND vs. NZ 2024 Test Series. IND vs NZ 2024: New Zealand National Cricket Team Wins Second Test by 113 Runs, India Lose First Home Series in 12 Years.

Interestingly, former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has also pinned the blame on India's senior players for the IND vs NZ Test Series 2024 loss. In his assessment on Cricbuzz, Karthik stated that players like Rohit, Virat Kohli, Ravi Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja should own up to this loss, given how poorly the team, including them, has performed. The IND vs NZ 3rd Test will be held in Mumbai, starting November 1.
