In the game of cricket, players have often been dismissed in bizarre fashion. Dramatic run-outs, gravity-defying catches, or unlucky hit-wickets are some of the manners in no player would like to get out while his stay on the crease. Australia’s Jake Weatherland met the same fate as he was dismissed in a similar manner, on Monday.

In a practise match between National Performance Squad and Victoria, the left-handed Weatherland was out, hit-wicket. Trying to play a drive, Jake Weatherland couldn’t time the ball perfectly and it was evident with the direction in which the ball travelled. Also, the improper timing caused the grip to lose and the bat hit the wicket, inadvertently, while in the follow-through.

Cricket has seen a lot of funny dismissals in its long history. Players have often succumbed to such bizarre manners and lost their wickets in a dramatic turn of events eventually. Jake Weatherland seems to only have joined the bandwagon, lately.
