From Narendra Modi to MS Dhoni, BCCI Receive Over 3000 Fake Applications for India’s Head Coach Position: Report

The BCCI have received over 3000 fake applications in the name of top people such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi to former cricketers MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar for India's head coach role.

With Rahul Dravid's tenure as the head coach of the Indian men's cricket team soon, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opened up applications for the role just ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Dravid's tenure will end after the tournament. The deadline for submitting the applications ended on Monday, and over 3000 candidates filled up the Google form and applied for the post. However, BCCI received applications in the name of former cricketers MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, and Sachin Tendulkar. As per a report by Indian Express, most of these applications are fake. BCCI opened up the applications for the head coach of Team India on May 13 and received many fake applications daily. In the current scenario, there is no clarity on whether BCCI have received any applications from genuine candidates or not. As quoted by the Indian Express a BCCI official said, “Last year too, the BCCI received such a response where imposters applied and the story is similar this time. This is not the first time BCCI has had to deal with such a situation. The last time when the Indian Cricket Board invited applications for the head coach in 2022, they received more than 5000 applications which were from imposters and they used the celebrity names to apply.
