The Pakistan Super League 2019 (PSL 2019) kicked off with a dazzling opening ceremony at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It was fireworks all around as fans thronged the venue to catch their favourites stars perfuming live. Fawad Khan, who happens to be the PSL’s brand ambassador, sang the themes song of this season ‘Khel Dewano Ka’. Pakistani singers Aima Baig and Shuja Haider also enchanted fans with their performances. Apart from local artists, Euro-Caribbean vocal group- Boney M performed on their famous track Daddy Cool as well.

Following the PSL 2019 opening ceremony, defending champions Islamabad United will take on Lahore Qalandars in the season opener. On the eve of PSL 2019 opening ceremony, Fawad Khan while speaking at a press conference said that the whole tournament will eventually be held in Pakistan. “Just be patient, the whole event will be eventually transferred. There has been a tremendous increase in the number of matches of PSL being played in Pakistan. The transition will happen,” Khan said.

The PSL 2019 from March 07 onwards will be held in Lahore and Karachi. Both the cities will hosts two round-robin matches each apart from the playoffs. Former South African star AB de Villiers, who is making his debut in PSL, has agreed to travel to Pakistan for the league matches.
