Just after South Africa lost their fourth wicket at the start of the day three, in came Faf du Plessis who left no stone unturned to stabilize the crumbling innings of the visitors. But after scoring a half-century, Du Plessis for out on the score of 55 runs.  Du Plessis came into the match when the board read 63 runs and when the team lost Temba Bavuma on the score of 18 after he got trapped by Ishant Sharma. Post this, Du Plessis along with Dean Elgan built up a strong partnership and the former went on to bring up his first Test half-century in India. Since the time, Du Plessis came on the field, he displayed grit and fought hard alongside the South African opener.  During the course of his innings, Du Plessis slammed eight fours and one maximum. However, just five runs after scoring a half-century, Du Plessis made way into the pavilion as Ravichandran Ashwin got his wicket. Faf and Elgar put up a 115 run stand for the South Africans.

Ashwin bowled an outside off delivery which landed straight into the slips and Cheteshwar Pujara took a wonderful catch. Quite a soft dismissal and Faf looked stunned as he stood staring at nothing. As of now, the visitors have lost five wickets at the score of 193runs. Dean Elgar brought up his century with a six.
