Essex has won the County Championship 2019 after the match against Somerset. Talking about the game, Somerset won the toss and elected to bat first. It was Alastair Cook and Tom Westley were the ones to remain not out as they made 45 runs in the second innings. The match ended with a draw but Essex won the title once again. Needless to say that the players were extremely happy with the victory. In the first innings, Rolf van der Marwe made the highest runs for the side by scoring 60 runs from the side and led the team to a total of 203 runs. Tom Abell made the second-highest runs and contributed with 45 runs. Samuel Cool scalped four wickets for the side. Whereas Simon Harmer scalped five wickets for Essex. Whereas, Alastair Cook made a half-century but that wasn’t enough for the side and they got all out on the score of 141 runs. Day three was forfeited and Essex came to bat again. The match ended with a draw but Essex won the title.

Before we start, can I say Marcus Trescothick, he's been an ambassador for county cricket, he's been great for the game and everyone at Essex wishes him well. T20 was obviously special, we knew it would be a massive battle.”
