England vs Australia 3rd T20I 2020 Highlights: Mitchell Marsh Shines as Visitors Win by Five Wickets, Hosts Take Series 2–1
Eoin Morgan and Co are eyeing a clean sweep as they take on arch-rivals Australia in the third and final T20I of the series at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The Three Lions dominated the first two contests of the game and will take the field in the forthcoming match with a lot of confidence.
Australia gets a consolation win after losing the first two games of the series. They were absolutely spot-on as they restricted the might England batting line up for a mediocre score of 145 runs. Josh Hazlewood was phenomenal with the new ball while Mitchell Starc and Kane Richardson put up an exhibition of fast bowling in death overs. For England, Jonny Bairstow scored a fifty. While chasing, Australia got off to a great start thanks to skipper Aaron Finch and Matthew Wade. However, Adil Rashid ran through Australia's middle order with three quick wickets and made the contest even again. However, Mitchell Marsh played a composed knock and guided Australia to a five-wicket win. With this, Australia also go back to the pinnacle of T20I team rankings. The two cricket powerhouses will now lock horns in the three-match ODI series which starts from September 11. Well, that's it from this coverage. Hope you enjoyed our updates. We'll be back in action in the ODI series.
Australia Win By Five Wickets!! A little bit of more drama in the last over but the visitors finally crossed the line with five wickets in hand. They also move back to the top of ICC T20I team rankings. Absolutely brilliant knock by Mitchell Marsh and not to forget the resistance of Ashton agar.
Scoers Level! Ashton Agar gets into the act as he smashes Tom Curran straight down the ground for the boundary which has almost sealed the game for the visitors. Only one needed from the last over. We shouldn't see any more drama in the game.
Chris Jordan bowls the 18th overs and he must release all the tricks from his arsenal as Australia are looking comfortable at the moment. Singles will do the work for the visitors and they are happy to take those. However, they should not leave too much for the last overs as things get tricky there and there's no MS Dhoni on the crease. Nine runs from the last two overs.
Death-over specialist Tom Curran bowls the 17th over. The required run rate in just five and Australia are not taking any risk at the moment. Only wickets will bring England back in the contest. However, Mitchell Marsh and Ashton Agar are playing responsibly. 15 needed from 18 balls. This is clearly looking Australia's game at the moment
Finally we get to see the vintage Mitchell Marsh as he smashes Mark Wood for a giant six before caressing the ball to square boundary. Marsh is looking in great touch and the required run rate is just five runs per over. Not a great over from Mark Wood as he looks frustrated. Australia must not lose the game from this position at least. 20 needed from the last four overs.
Jofra Archer comes back into the attack. He didn’t enjoy his opening spell as Matthew Wade and Aaron Finch smashed him for him runs. However, the pacer is absolutely spot on in the death overs. Only seven runs from the over. The game is gradually slipping away from Australia’s grasp.
Skipper Moeen Ali comes out to bowl for the first time in this match. Spin is doing the trick for England and with Adil Rashid completing his spell, Ali will want to put some more pressure on the visitors. The off-spinner starts off well, giving just five from his first over. We are heading towards another cliffhanger.
OUT! Spin does the trick again. Adil Rashid is on a roll. He dismisses Steve Smith in the last ball of his spell. England are not just back in the hunt but are also at a better position, Australia are doing a South Africa again- Chocking unnecessarily. Smith c and b Adil Rashid 3(4)
More leg-spin in the form of Joe Denly. Moeen Ali’s move almost worked as Denly almost dismissed comeback man Mitchell Marsh. However, Dawid Malan couldn’t hold on to the catch and ball raises away to the boundary ropes. Early reprieve for Mitchell Marsh and he’ll have the onus to take Australia over the line with the help of Steve Smith, who’s the other new man in.
OUT! Adil Rashid has changed the game completely. He dismisses Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch as the game is balanced again. England are back in the hunt. The ghosts of the opening T20I are haunting the visitors. Will the result be same or Australia will go through? Only time will tell.
OUT! Another one bites the dust and on this occasion, it’s Glenn Maxwell. Absolutely needless shot as he tries to go for a big hit despite the run rate being in control. Fans are getting nostalgia of the opening T20I. Australia better beware. Maxwell c Tom Curran b Adil Rashid 6(11)
The game has slowed down a bit after Marcus Stoinis departure and England must aim to make a comeback. However, the required run rate is still just over six and Australia don't have much to worry about. Nevertheless, they must not forget what happened in the opening game. After the end of 10 overs, Australia are 86 for the loss of two wickets.
Glenn Maxwell is the new man in for Australia and he has point to prove. With the required run rate being just over six and an in-form Aaron Finch batting at other end, he must give himself a chance to settle down. Meanwhile, Adil Rashid gives just six runs in the ninth over.
OUT! Marcus Stoinis has again thrown it away after getting off to a good start. Tom Curran Strikes with the first ball of his spell. Interestingly, he goes for slower ball first up which ignited Marcus Stoinis to go for a big shot and Tom Banton takes a good catch at the boundary ropes. Stoinis c Tom Banton b Tom Curran 26(18)
As soon as the powerplay overs are done, England introduces spin in the attack in the form of Adil Rashid. However, Aaron Finch is in no mood to settle down the leg-spinner as his smashes his second ball for a boundary. While we were saying this, Finch gets a reprieve as Jonny Bairstow drops his catch. Adil Rashid is absoltely gutted as he knows the value of Finch's wicket. Luck is certainly not England's side.
50 up for Australia and that too in the sixth over. Marcus Stoinis is justifying the team management's decision of sending him up the order. He smashes Mark Wood for a couple of more boundaries as the required run-rate is gradually coming down. Meanwhile, Aaron Finch also gets a boundary in the last ball of powerplay. Australia firmly placed on the driver's seat.
Chris Jordan introduced in the attack as Australia are continuing to go for runs. Not a great start from the veteran pacer as Marcus Stoinis smashes two boundaries off him. Australia are off to a great start but will not want to let this chance go away. Meanwhile, 12 from Jordan's first over.
Mark Wood is undoubtedly high on confidence after dismissing Matthew Wade. He’s literally breathing fire with the ball. Meanwhile, Marcus Stoinis is the new man in for Australia. Interestingly, he has again been promoted ahead of Steve Smith. The all-rounder played an impressive knock in the last game, smashing 35, but will like to get a much bigger score. In between, he collects his first boundary.

Buttler was the chief-architect of England’s victory in the first two games and his ouster will certainly leave a great void in the team. The likes of Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan and skipper Eoin Morgan need to put their hands up in order to register a historic whitewash. The home team will be mighty pleased with their bowling efforts in the first two games as the pace quartet of Chris Jordon, Jofra Archer, Tom Curran and Mark Wood have bowled brilliantly in the previous games. England vs Australia 3rd T20I 2020: Southampton Weather and Rain Forecast.
Speaking of Australia, they haven’t been able to come up as a unit despite playing a fully-strengthen playing XI. They were firmly placed on the driver’s seat in the series opener. However, their middle-order collapsed shockingly which propelled them to a two-run loss. While, they never looked in the hunt in the last game.
