Right before the start of the Ashes 2019, the tournament brought in its fair share of controversies. First, it was the scoreboard at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground which has the score of the CWC 2019 semi-finals between England and Australia which ruffled Jason Gillespie. Now, this time it was Joe Root and Trevor Bayliss who got reportedly were quite annoyed with Tim Paine’s new handshake tradition in the official running order of matchday operations. After handling the reins of the team, Tim Paine initiated a pre-handshake ahead of the Ashes 2019 opening game. Australia vs England Live Cricket Score.

This reportedly was a way to rebuild their image after the ball-tampering scam. However, Joe Root during the press conference said that he is not bothered about how the opponents would behave throughout the series. The famous English newspaper The Guardian labelled this gesture as an unnecessary PR activity. "We'll see how that unfolds in the course of the series. To be honest, their behaviour doesn't really concern me. The thing that concerns me is that we go about things in our own way. It's really important we look after that and don't get too wrapped up in how they play their cricket," Root said.

Australia's banned trio of Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft will be playing together for the first time post-ball-tampering fiasco. However, ahead of the start of the series, Stuart Broad had already fired a warning for the Australian team to expect a hostile reception from the crowd. Talking about the game, Australia had won the toss and has opted to bat first. For now, they have lost David Warner on the score of 2.
