England has played five matches so far. The hosts have faced South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, West Indies and Afghanistan so far. Barring Pakistan, England has won all the other four matches and won comprehensively. Sri Lanka has also played five matches so far. The island nation faced New Zealand, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Australia. Out of these five games, the matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh had to be abandoned without a ball bowled due to unrelenting rain. Sri Lanka lost to New Zealand and Australia and managed to win only one match which was against Afghanistan.
England are number three on the points table, behind only Australia and New Zealand. Whereas Sri Lanka is on the number six position in the points table and is behind Bangladesh who are on the fifth position. England will look to move closer to the semi-finals with a win over Sri Lanka in Friday's match.
