Ekta Kapoor’s Alt Balaji Reportedly to Produce Sourav Ganguly Biopic

Sourav Ganguly recently launched his book titled ‘A Century is not Enough’. Now as per various reports, Alt Balaji, a subsidiary of Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Limited, is in talks with the former Indian cricketer to produce a biopic based on the book. Alt Balaji, which was launched in April last year, is a video on demand platform which produces original content. The company is now looking to add a biopic on Ganguly to its list.

The book is co-authored by Ganguly himself and in which he talks about his unforgettable journey from Kolkata’s Biren Roy Road to the balcony at Lord’s, right up to the Indian Premier League. However, nothing has been finalised yet and the process is going on. Reportedly, Ganguly wants a Kolkata-based director for his biopic. Ekta, on the other hand, wants a Mumbai director for the project.

Interestingly, Ganguly recently confirmed that he has discussed the project with Balaji. “I have had a few discussions with Balaji, though nothing is final yet. I’ll have more details once we take this forward,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

If a biopic on Ganguly takes the final shape, he will join other Indian cricketers like MS Dhoni (Dhoni: The Untold Story), Sachin Tendulkar (Sachin: A Billion Dreams) and Mohammad Azharuddin (Azhar) whose biopics have already been produced.
