Dean Elgar was the poster boy for the visitors as the opener scored 150 runs during IND vs SA, 1st Test 2019 while batting alongside Quinton de Kock. This helped the South Africans avert follow-on during the day three of the India vs South Africa match which is currently underway at the VDCA Stadium in Vishakhapatnam. Elgar reached the 150 run mark with three boundaries in one over when Ravindra Jadeja was handling the bowling duties for the side. Quinton De Kock Musters Fifty in His Maiden Test Innings on Indian Soil During Day 3 of India vs South Africa 1st Test.

This is the first time that the batsman scored 150 runs against India. Overall, this is the second time, he scored more than 150 runs. Elgar achieved the feat after hitting 17 fours and four sixes as he batted at an average of 54.45. The first time he scored 199 was against Bangladesh at Potchefstroom in 2017. With this, South Africa reached a total of 324 runs for the loss of five wickets. Quinton de Kock is less than 25 runs away from getting his century. Clearly the day belonged to the South Africans who dominated the hosts with their batting performance. Until the tea session, the South African batsmen ushered the team to a total of 295 runs for the loss of five wickets.

Prior to this, it was Faf du Plessis who scored his first Test half-century against India. But his innings did not last long and he was soon sent packing by Ravichandran Ashwin on the score of 55. Clearly the two batsmen are in no mood to throw their wicket away so soon.
