David Warner Follows Virat Kohli’s Footsteps in Creating THIS Unwanted Record after Scoring Successive Ducks in Ashes 2019
David Warner was trolled as Stuart Broad’s bunny after the opener fell for a two-ball duck in the first over of the Old Trafford game. Warner was out to Broad in the fourth delivery of the opening over. It was also the fifth time – and 10 times overall in Tests – in seven Ashes 2019 innings that Broad removed Warner.
David Warner joined Virat Kohli in an unwanted list after another disastrous outing against England in the opening innings of the fourth Test match in Manchester. Warner, 32, was trolled as Stuart Broad’s bunny after the opener fell for a two-ball duck in the first over of the Old Trafford game. Warner was out to Broad in the fourth delivery of the opening over. It was also the fifth time – and 10 times overall in Tests – in seven Ashes 2019 innings that Broad removed Warner, who also now, unfortunately, has six single-digit scores in four matches at Ashes 2019. Warner’s record of six single-digit scores in a single series has now taken him on level with Indian skipper Kohli, who was the last batsman to make six single-digit scores in a single inning. Kohli, who was recently demoted to number two in the ICC Test batting charts, suffered the same fate during India’s Tour of England in 2014. Like Warner, Kohli was trolled as James Anderson’s bunny in that series after falling to the English veteran pacer four times in 10 innings. Kohli’s scores in that series, which India lost 0-4, read 1, 8, 25, 0, 39, 8, 0, 7, 6 and 20.
Unlike Kohli, Warner has one half-century in the Ashes 2019 series but still, his records in this series against England is shambolic. The left-handed opening batsman has so far scored 2, 8, 3, 5, 61, 0 and 0 in seven innings and is yet to bat in the second inning of the fourth Test in Manchester. Warner was removed by Broad in the fourth delivery of the game’s first over when the left-handed opening batsman nicked an outside the off-stump ball to wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow.
The 32-year-old, who made his return into the Australian team after serving a year ban for his role in the 2018 ball-tampering scandal, is also the first top-order Aussie batsman to score six single-digit scores in one series since Kim Hughes registered this record against West Indies in 1984/85. John Dyson is another Australian batsman to register this unwanted record. He completed his unfortunate record against England in 1981.
