David Warner has said that he will do everything it takes to get back the respect of Australian people.
Sydney, March 31: Former Australia vice-captain David Warner, who has been banned from international cricket for a year by Cricket Australia (CA) for his role in ball tampering in the third test match against South Africa, has apologised for his actions in a press conference held in Sydney on Saturday morning.
A teary eyed David Warner said that, "Right now, it is hard to know what comes next, but first and foremost, is the well being of my family." There were reports that David Warner may announce his retirement from international cricket in the press conference, though he did not do that, he did say that he understands he may not get a chance to represent his country again. "In the back of my mind, I suppose there is a tiny ray of hope that I may one day given the privilege of playing for my country again but I am resigned to the fact that that may never happen again."
Apologising profusely for his role and "his part" in the ball tampering in third test against South Africa, he said sorry to the South African cricket fans as well and has expressed remorse. When directly asked whether he was considering retirement, Warner's reply was, "That's something that I'll continue to sit down with my family and weigh up all my considerations before I make any decisions."
The former Australian vice-captain was found to be the master mind behind the ball tampering scandal that hit the cricketing world and Cricket Australia. Warner also spoke about his relationship with Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft saying that he has known them both for a long time and that a made a regrettable decision.
