South African Cricket Team pacer Dale Steyn shines as he took three wickets in the opening match of Mzansi Super League 2019. The game was held between Cape Town Blitz and Jozi Stars on Nov 8, 2019, at Johannesburg. Cape Town Blitz led by Quinton de Kock won the match by 15 runs as defending champions Jozi Stars weren't able to chase down the target of 214 runs. The match between Cape Town Blitz and Jozi Stars was a star-studded event as other famous cricketers like Moeen Ali, Chris Gayle, Kagiso Rabada to name a few featured in that game. Jozi Stars is led by Temba Bavuma. Cape Town Blitz batted first where their opener Janneman Malan scored unbeaten 99 runs from 59 balls with an impressive strike rate of 167.79. This helped Cape Town Blitz post a total of 213/3. Malan was awarded Man of the Match for his blistering knock.

Jozi Stars gave full-hearted effort in their chase where Chris Gayle started off with boundaries, however, wasn't able to convert his inning into a big knock, as he got dismissed on 17 runs. If it was Malan for Cape Town Blitz, then it was Reeza Hendricks for Jozi Stars, unfortunately, the latter wasn't able to take his side home. Hendricks scored 80 runs from 53 balls which included 11 boundaries and a six.

Dale Steyn Brought Cape Town Back into the Contest

Dale Steyn took important wickets of Chris Gayle, Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen. Moeen Ali also played his part by dismissing Jozi Stars skipper Temba Bavuma who made quick 38 runs from 15 balls. Stars bowler Kagiso Rabada went wicketless and was expensive in his four overs as he gave away 38 runs in 4 overs.
