Returning after a two-year gap, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would be looking forward to putting up a great show in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. As CSK returns to IPL this year, all eyes will be on MS Dhoni, who has been captaining their side since the inaugural season. The much-celebrated IPL franchise would be vying to win the coveted IPL trophy for the third time. In its eight-year history, CSK had won back-to-back titles in the year 2010 & 2011.
Ahead of the IPL 2018 auction, CSK retained Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja from their previous squad. At the auctions, CSK managed to bring back some of the players from the previous squad as well.
All-rounder Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis being the prominent ones. While CSK missed out on spinner Ravi Ashwin, they added experienced campaigner Harbhajan Singh to their ranks. Shane Watson, Kedar Jadhav, and Ambati Rayudu will be part of the CSK squad for this IPL as well.
Super kings open their IPL 2018 campaign against defending champions Mumbai Indians, which happens to be the season opener as well. M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai continues to be the home venue for CSK. The Chennai-based franchise will play most of their home matches at 8 pm IST with a couple of games scheduled for 4 pm. Even most of their away games are scheduled to begin at 8 pm. This is mainly because CSK happens to be one of the most followed teams in the league.
