Chennai Super Kings (CSK) find themselves in a precarious situation, where all the talent in their squad, and just six retentions available, where two are confirmed given their loyalties. Ruturaj Gaikwad

Given the investment CSK have put in Ruturaj Gaikwad, their captain is a sureshot retainer, in their top-order batter. Gaikwad did learn the tips and tricks of leadership in IPL 2024 and will have his selected core of players to lead in the upcoming season.

Rachin Ravindra

Star of New Zealand off-late, Rachin Ravindra, gives CSK a massive boost up the order along with Gaikwad, who can maneuver and build the match from any position. Ravindra Jadeja

CSK have always showcased their faith in Ravindra Jadeja, who has been their linchpin down the order. Jadeja's skill set adds to the overall composition of the franchise, who largely depend on bowling all-rounders. Interestingly, Jadeja was retained in 2022 despite losing his captaincy.

Matheesha Pathirana

The heir to Lastih Malinga's legacy in Sri Lanka, Matheesha Pathirana could very well become the leader of the pacers for CSK in the coming years. Pathirana, known for his death overs bowling, has improved across areas and is a gun-fielder, which makes him even more crucial in T20 cricket. With CSK looking to overhaul, Pathirana could become the glue that sticks the bowlers together.
