Cricket has been a medal sport at the Asian Games since Guangzhou 2010 where it was played in the T20 format. It was included again in the 2014 Asian Games at Incheon. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka won the Men's competition respectively and Pakistan won the Women's competition twice. After missing out on the 2018 edition in Jakarta, cricket has returned once again in the Asian Games 2023 at Hangzhou China. The Women's competition is already over with India winning the gold medal and Sri Lanka winning the Silver medal. The men's competition is currently ongoing with quarterfinal matches set to commence. The men’s cricket tournament at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023 is a 14-team affair and started on September 27. The five top-seeded teams - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan- will directly start their campaigns from the quarter-finals while the remaining nine teams started campaign from the group stage, where they have been divided into three groups of three teams each. Till now in the group stages, Nepal has dominated the proceedings winning the matches against Mongolia and Maldives in their groups by a huge margin. Hong Kong are also well on course to reach the quarterfinal but Malaysia and Singapore are still competing to seal the final spot. Quarterfinals of the Asian Games begin on October 3.
