Caribbean Premier League 2018 or CPL 2018 kicks of on August 09 (IST). This will be the sixth edition of the league. Just like the Indian Premier League (IPL), Big Bash League (BBL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL), CPL is famous for its quality of cricket and entertainment. The CPL T20 2018 is scheduled to begin with defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders taking on St Lucia Stars in the opening match. The CPL T20 2018 will feature a total of 34 games including the playoffs and final. The sixth edition of the league will be played across the Caribbean Islands and three matches will be played at Central Broward Stadium, Lauderhill in Florida, USA. The CPL 2018 features six teams- Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, St Lucia Stars and Trinbago Knight Riders. The winner of CPL 2018 will be handed a brand new trophy which apparently is different from the previous five seasons.

Meanwhile, Trinbago Knight Riders, co-owned by Shah Rukh Khan, come into the tournament as defending champions. Knight Riders defeated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the final of CPL 2017. Jamaica Tallawahs won the opening edition of CPL, followed by Barbados Tridents. Knight Riders, then known as Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel, won the 205 edition as well. Jamaica Tallawahs for the second time lifted the trophy in 2016.
