Premature celebrations are not something new in sports. Recently, during the opening match of Caribbean Premier League 2018 or CPL T20 2018, Trinbago Knight Riders bowler Ali Khan along with his captain Dwayne Bravo prematurely celebrated a fall of a wicket against St Lucia Stars. The United States of America bowler was successful in inducing an outside edge of Andre Fletcher’s bat. However knight Riders’ wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin dropped the regulation catch. Khan, believing to have taken a wicket, kissed the Trinbago Knight Riders badge on his chest and also received a hug from his skipper. Ramdin was quick to signal that he spilled the catch, but it was little late as the bowler was already in celebratory mode.

The incident took place in the first over of St Lucia Stars’ innings. Luckily for the bowler, he did not have to wait too much longer for a wicket as he bowled Fletcher in his next over. St Lucia Stars were eventually bundled out for just 95 runs as they lost the match by 100 runs. Interestingly, Fletcher was top-scorer for his side. For, Knight Riders captain Bravo and Fawad Ahmed scalped three wickets each. Khan in his two overs gave away ten runs and picked one wicket.

Batting first, Knight Riders rode on Colin Munro’s brilliance to post 195 for six in their allotted 20 overs. The left-hander scored 68 off just 48 balls ad during his stay he smashed nine fours and a six. Wicketkeeper-batsman Ramdin too chipped in with a quick-fire unbeaten 50 off 27 balls to take his side to a big total.
