Hard-hitting batsman Kieron Pollard scored his career's maiden T20 century as he helped his team St Lucia Stars register their first win of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2018. Not only was it season’s first win for St Lucia Stars, it was their first victory after a 15-match losing streak in the CPL. Captain Pollard, while batting at number five, scored 104 off 54 balls to take his side to mammoth 226 for six. Opener Andre Fletcher also made valuable contribution of 80 runs off 52 balls.

Pollard, who came to bat with St Lucia Stars score reading 57 for three, not only bailed his side out from the initial trouble but went on to up the ante towards the end as well. In the last over Raymon Reifer accounted for Pollard’s wicket. In response, Barbados Tridents fell short by 38 runs after posting 188 for 6 from 20 overs. Dwayne Smith was the top-scorer for Tridents as he scored 58 off 45 balls. Tridents kept losing wickets at the regular intervals and with that the required run-rate climbed up. The win helped St Lucia Stars open their account on the CPL 2018 points table, though they continue to languish at the bottom having played five matches thus far. St Lucia Stars will next face St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at home on August 22 (IST).
