Rain has once again played spoilsport in an India vs Pakistan match in Asia Cup 2023 but this time, the disappointment is a bit short-lived as fans would get to see the action resume on the reserve day (September 11). India had a solid start with the bat, having both Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma send the Pakistan bowlers out on a leather hunt. But Pakistan came back, dismissing both of them in a short span of time and while KL Rahul and Virat Kohli were doing their thing of rebuilding the innings, the heavens opened up and play, eventually was not possible on September 10 anymore. So how will it rain on the reserve day of the IND vs PAK match as well? Groundstaff Use Fans to Dry Up Patches As Wet Outfield Interrupts Play in IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 Match at R Premadasa Stadium, Fans React
Unfortunately, the forecast is not much different than what it was for today. Weather reports state that the sky would be cloudy over the R Premadasa Stadium and thunderstorm and rain is expected to follow suit in this match. Now what if it rains on the reserve day as well? The match, unfortunately, would then have to be called off should there be similar weather circumstances on the India vs Pakistan reserve day (September 11). Both teams, like they did in the group stage, will share points in this Super Four stage.
Fans would however hope and pray that the rain stays away on September 11 as they would want to watch a full India vs Pakistan contest. The same venue had hosted the match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on September 9 and that game had no weather-related interruption at all. Also with this game being shifted to reserve day, it would mean that India will be playing three days at a stretch in this Asia Cup 2023 tournament with the Men in Blue slated to face Sri Lanka on September 12.
