In an ardent sportsmanship gesture during a Big Bash League (BBL) 2018-19 match between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers, on Wednesday, the Striker's captain Colin Ingram recalled James Pattinson after he was ruled run-out by the Third Umpire. The incident left the crowd bewildered!

The incident happened during the 13th over of the first innings, when the pair of Jimmy Peirson and James Pattinson took a tight single, and the later had to put in a dive to return in time. The third umpire took enough time, only to rule James Pattinson run out. The replays on the screen showed clearly that he was back in the crease. The ruling irked the crowd, the players in the middle, and on the fence too.

However, as much drama unfolded on the pitch, Pattinson eventually decided to walk off. Just as he started to march back in the pavilion, he was called back by the on-field umpires. It was later said that Striker’s captain had withdrawn his appeal on the advice of a teammate, Ben Laughlin.

Brisbane Heat managed to score 146 runs in their first innings. Adelaide Strikers won the match comprehensively, by five wickets.
