This year in the 2018-19, the BCCI had announced the participation of several new teams for Ranji and domestic season, including the state of Puducherry. However, the new entrant was in the news for the wrong reasons. The state asked to withdraw station players from the squad just after one game of the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19. However, it was an outstation player who made headlines for the new team. It was the former Mumbai player Sidak Singh who went on to script a history for the team in the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy 2018-19 as he snapped 10 wickets in an inning and emulated the record of the legendary spinner Anil Kumble.

Sidak snapped 10 wickets in one inning against Manipur and reduced the team on 71 runs single-handedly at the CAP Siechem Ground. His magical bowling figures read of 17.5-7-31-10. The 19-year-old was quite a famous player in the domestic circuit and had even played seven T20 games for Mumbai. But was his career for quite a long time was obstructed due to his suspected bowling action which came under the scanner quite frequently. Even the BCCI match referee had put him in the blacklist due to his bowling actions. But somehow, he made a comeback into the squad and looks all set to make a debut for the Ranji Season 2018-19 for Puducherry.  Anil Kumble's humble gesture impresses fans.

Talking about the 10-wicket haul, the phrase itself reminds of Anil Kumble who achieved the feat in 1999 against Pakistan at the Firozshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. With this, Kumble equalled the record of Jim Laker.
