Windies star batsman Chris Gayle is not the swiftest when it comes to fielding. The Jamaican often faces criticism for lack of his fielding skills. However, the 38-year-old pulled off a sensational catch while fielding at slip during the final of Global T20 Canada 2018 between Vancouver Knights and Cricket Windies B team at King City in Toronto. Gayle-led Knights later won the final by seven wickets. Gayle caught Kavem Hodge off Fawad Ahmed’s bowling. At first, Gayle didn’t catch the ball and only managed to get hold of it on the second attempt.
Hodge while looking to push at the ball got an outside edge and went towards the left of Gayle who was fielding at slip. Gayle’s splendid effort not only stunned his teammates, commentators but himself as well.
Hodge’s wicket was the seventh wicket to fell and it further dented Windies B team as they were restricted to 145 in the final. Sheldon Cottrell and Fawad Ahmed picked four and three wickets each as Windies B team struggled to go past the 150-run mark.

In the final, Vancouver Knights opted to field first. The Knights then reached the target in 17.3 overs to be crowned the inaugural champions. Though their chase got off to a worst possible start after losing Chadwick Walton and Chris Gayle in the first two overs with the score reading 15 for two.
In fourth over, Ben Dunk was dismissed and that left the Knight in trouble. However, Rassie van der Dussen and Saad Bin Zafar then shared the match-winning unbeaten 126-run stand for the fourth wicket to help their side cross the line. While Rassie van der Dussen scored 44, Saad Bin Zafar, who was later awarded the Man of the Match award, slammed 79 off just 48 balls.
