Indian cricket team’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara on Thursday, February 21, smashed an unbeaten century against Railways in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2019 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, Pujara, who came in to bat as an opener, carried his bat through to scored 100 off just 61 balls. The right-hander now becomes the first batsman to score a century in a T20 match for Saurashtra.

Pujara during his stay smashed 14 fours and one six as he helped Saurashtra post 188 for three in their allotted 20 overs. The right-handed batsman, known for his solid defence, scored first fifty runs off just 29 balls. This was Pujara’s 59th T20 match and he has six half-centuries against his name. Interestingly, Pujara was not picked by any team during the Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019) auctions. Previously, Pujara has been part of IPL franchises Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Meanwhile, besides Pujara, Robin Uthappa scored 46 off 31 balls to help Saurashtra post a big total. At the time of writing this story, Railways were 55 for no loss in five overs.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 commenced from today, February 21, and will end on March 14. Saurashtra are placed in Group C along with Mumbai, Railways, Sikkim, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Goa. Delhi won the last edition of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy by defeating Rajasthan by 41 runs in the final.
