Wright played with West Indies’ great cricketers Viv Richards and Joel Garner in 1970s. Wright took over 7000 wickets in his 60-year-long career in cricket. Once, he registered 538 dismissals in five seasons, taking a wicket in every 27 balls.

"To be honest I eat anything that's going but I don't drink much, just the odd beer. And I keep fit, although these days I use my age as an excuse to miss training. I don't like to sit still and watch TV, I would rather have a walk or potter about in the garage”, Wright was quoted by AFP while talking about his retirement.
