A mighty impressive performance this from Canada to seal their first win at a T20 World Cup! Batting first, they managed to score 137/7 runs largely due to Nicholas Kirton's 49 and his 75-run partnership with Shreyas Movva. The target did not seem enough then but the Canada bowlers surely did make things pretty tough for Ireland. After a quiet start, Ireland continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and never really gained any sort of momentum in the run chase. Canada were also excellent on the field, pulling off some nice catches and also a brilliant run out. Ireland did mount a late fightback in the end through George Dockrell and Mark Adair but that was too late as Paul Stirling and his men suffered a second loss in ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
