Opener Shikhar Dhawan will make a comeback in the ODI series after being dropped from the two-match Test series which was held at Rajkot and Hyderabad. Dhawan was dropped due to poor form during South Africa and England series. But now, he will feature in the playing XI of Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday. Shikhar Dhawan made his debut in 2010 and since then has made an appearance in 109 innings in the ODIs. So far, he has scored 4823 runs and is just 177 runs away from reaching the milestone of 5,000 runs. If he is able to get the same in the first four matches, he can surpass Kohli to become the fastest batsman to reach the 5,000 runs. Dhawan could also surpass Viv Richards’ record. Talking about Shikhar Dhawan, the left-hander went on to become the highest scorer in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2018. He scored 342 runs from five innings and had a strike rate of 68.4 runs. This also included a couple of centuries scored by the left-handed opening batsman. He also went on to become the Man of the Series for his blistering performance. With this, Dhawan joined the list of top five run scorers of the Asia Cup for India. Suresh Raina tops the list with 372 runs from six innings, Virat Kohli is on number two with 357 runs in three innings. Virender Sehwag is on number three scoring 348 runs in five matches.
