Can England Qualify for Semi-Final? What Are ENG’s Semis Chances in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023? What’s Their NRR and Current Position on Points Table?
The reigning champions have had a forgettable ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign thus far with just one win in four matches. With five more matches remaining, can Jos Buttler and his team make it to the semifinals?
England have had a campaign to forget in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Jos Buttler and his team walked in as one of the favourites to lift the title for a second consecutive time with some top names in their ranks and a free-flowing aggressive style of play. But things certainly did not go the way Buttler and his team would have wanted to. The early indication of a horrible CWC 2023 campaign was the hammering they were handed by New Zealand in the first match of the tournament. England did manage to beat Bangladesh in their next match but inconsistencies plagued their whole campaign. Most Runs in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
The reigning champions won the ODI World Cup title for the first time in 2019 and have been one of the most dominant white-ball sides in the world. Playing in India was always going to be tough for the English side and their batters have not clicked as a unit so far, barring that game against Bangladesh. Also, their bowling has not fired with the likes of Reece Topley injured and Mark Wood and Sam Curran among others, not consistent. A lot was expected from skipper Jos Buttler but the England captain has failed to impress with a string of low scores. Most Wickets in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Did England Qualify for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Semifinals?
No, England failed to qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 semifinals. Their 33-run loss to Australia spelled the end of their title defense in India and that was it for them. The Jos Buttler-led side had been billed as one of the 'favourites' to win the tournament but failed to live up to that tag big time, going down in six out of nine matches. After a win against Bangladesh in their second match of CWC 2023, England had to wait till November 8 to register their second win of the tournament, against Netherlands. England did manage to sign off with a 93-run win over Pakistan.
Having said that, England with wins over Netherlands and also Pakistan, have managed to finish seventh on the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 points table and hereby secure qualification for the Champions Trophy in 2025, slated to be held in Pakistan.
